April 2016, with two months off. So I’ve been doing it for about 4 months.
What made you want to try it?/How did you discover it?
I wanted to try calisthenics because I hate going to the gym. I’m lazy and can’t workout on my own. It looked like a fun yet challenging workout. I found out about Street Workout Academy through Yelp.
What are the benefits you get from training calisthenics?/How often do you train?
A major benefit is the physical change I see happening right before my eyes! I no longer have the body of a 13 year old girl and don’t need 45 bands to help me do 1 pull up. Training calisthenics also helps me make healthier choices in my everyday life. Except for the weekends 😉
I try to train 6 days a week.
What’s your favorite move?/What are your calisthenics training goals for the years to come (moves, reps, combos etc…)?
My favorite move right now is the skull crusher because its a move I can see and feel a major improvement on.
I want to be able to do handstands and muscle ups.
Would you push your friends to try and get good at calisthenics?
Yes, I try everyday, but most of my friends are slobs.
What would be your first advice for anyone who wants to start training calisthenics?
DO NOT GIVE UP! No matter how hard it is, keep trying and push yourself. You’ll learn to love it! It’s been working out for me 🙂
